    Job Description

    As the Director of Systems Engineering with Altran you will be the leader of a multi-disciplinary system engineering team responsible for the development and launch of complex, software-driven electromechanical products. You will drive system-level definition, development, integration and test activities throughout the entire product design lifecycle. The unique nature of our project-based delivery model will require the ability to learn new tools, technologies, and domains, as well as different processes and regulations. The work delivered by people in your team may span Medical, Aerospace, Industrial, and Commercial markets.

    Responsibilities

    • The Systems Engineering Director hires, mentors, coaches and manages the Systems Engineering team, working with individuals and teams to plan and execute Systems engineering deliverables across the full development life cycle.
    • Lead a cross-functional project team consisting of electrical, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineers to achieve project deliverables
    • Contribute to system development tasks that include defining needs, requirements, and use-cases, and defining and tracing system and subsystem architecture, requirements, and testing
    • Identify and document system hazards, failure modes, and risk mitigations
    • Work with subsystem teams, domain subject matter experts, and suppliers in the assessment, selection, integration, and qualification of key components
    • Create and maintain programmatic and technical requirements, specifications, and related technical documentation
    • Support the preparation of proposals, project plans and estimates, and present information and status updates to clients

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in EE, CS, or ME is required, a Master of Science degree is desired; System Engineering training and/or certification is a plus
    • Ten + years’ experience working as a Systems Engineer in a multidisciplinary project team environment
    • Five + years’ experience as an Systems or Electromechanical Engineering manager
    • Domain expertise in one of more associated domains; preferably Electrical, Software Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with exposure to Quality, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing
    • Familiarity with Systems Engineering practices such as requirements management, design trade-off and cost-benefit analysis, hazards and risk assessments
    • Use of requirements management tools ie; Doors, ReqPro
    • Experience with requirements management and application/product lifecycle management tools and infrastructure
    • Experience working in a highly regulated product development environment such as medical devices or aerospace
    • Strong preference for experience with regulated design and development processes that conform to standards such as ISO 9000, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, DO-178, DO-254
    • Excellent project team skills; experience and capability working collaboratively in a client environment per the client’s Quality
    • Management System (QMS), as part of a cross-functional team that includes development/verification/validation/procurement/manufacturing/regulatory and quality experts
    • The ability to travel 25-30%
