Job Description

Altran North America is in search of a Lead UX Design Consultant to help expand our Consulting Services Group capabilities. In this role, you will be a thought leader that balances delivery of client engagements while collaborating on Altran NA strategic initiatives. You will need to be able to multi-task, effectively handle interruptions, and show a genuine interest in building your contact network inside and outside the company.

As a member of the Consulting Services Group, you will work with our clients:

  • To design end-to-end experiences using participatory and iterative design techniques including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative research to uncover insights, learn about user behavior, and verify design concepts
  • To translate business concepts into experience requirements and designs that illustrate simplicity despite system complexity
  • To design and develop highly interactive/responsive web, mobile, and transactional applications
  • To ensure development teams implement design specifications
  • By contributing to interdisciplinary teams that include other designers, program management, business and brand strategists, and hardware and software developers
  • By creating instant tangibility through storytelling and rapid prototyping methods
  • By effectively communicating research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually


  • Comprehensive understanding of UX/UI design approaches, technologies, and tools (including personas, storyboards, journey maps, user flows and use cases, information architecture, wireframes / clickthroughs, functional prototypes, and test-driven design and development)
  • Experience creating specifications and style guides to supplement prototypes and wireframes
  • Experience leading and managing groups (including administration: time reporting, expense submission etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with driving and applying user-centered design processes while working collaboratively with customers, along with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and user research
  • Experience designing and developing highly interactive/responsive web, mobile, and transactional applications
  • A solid portfolio of web application designs demonstrating an excellent understanding of design requirements and related platform guidelines.
  • Leading experience design efforts with new and emerging technologies leveraging agile development techniques.
  • Ability to create assets within design systems including defining what, when, and how components should be used across applications


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years in-depth knowledge and experience of user interface design with applications, prototypes, mobile devices, and rich web apps/site.
  • 3+ years leading multi UX resource delivery/project teams
  • 3+ years building experiences for responsive or multi-channel user interfaces
  • 3+ years providing client facing project leadership
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of technologies and their impact on the feasibility of design solutions, including capabilities and limitations:
    • Frameworks: Angular, Ionic, Bootstrap, Sketch, Adobe Suite, InVision / UXPin / Prototyping
    • Languages/Libraries: Javascript/NodeJS, Flex, Ajax, Flash, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, jQuery, and various other technologies a plus
    • Design Tools: Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch and other UX/UI design tools.
    • Prototyping: Balsamiq, Axure or InVision.
  • Experience in Medical, Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS), and/or Internet of Things (IoT) domains
