    Job Description

    As a Senior System Engineer with Altran, you will be a key contributor in the coordination, optimization and communication among mechanical, electrical, software, and test teams. As an active member of the systems engineering team, you will support business development, requirements gathering, project planning and estimation throughout the design cycle. You will apply system engineering methodologies  to define multi-discipline solutions across the various industries served by Altran.  As a leading voice within the system engineering group, you will support initiatives within the group to continuously improve our practice.



    • Lead the execution of system engineering activities, including stakeholder and system requirement generation, architectual design and analysis, and testing.
    • Key team member in decomposing system into subsystems, and defining subsystem specifications and interfaces. May provide documentation leadership for these deliverables.
    • Regularly contribute to downstream engineering activity, occasionally involved in design level decision making. Offer views of design alternatives to expose design factors that should be considered during formative program stages.
    • Lead client facing engagements. Interact with clients regularly to extract stakeholder requirements, use cases, and other information used in project delivery. Utilize recognized methodologies and best practices to drive tradeoff analysis activities, engaging with client to relay tradeoffs and offer solutions.
    • Assist sales, business development, marketing and other departments technically, as required.
    • Support or lead in the preparation of project proposals. Support in the presentation of materials to clients.
    • Provide project deliverables in a timely fashion. Provide timeline estimates during project scoping phase.


    • BS or equivalent degree in EE, CS, or ME. MS Desired.
    • 8+ years' of experience in engineering with 3+ years' of experience as a Systems Engineer.
    • 2+ years' of experience working with at least two associated engineering disciplines expected.
    • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize on many complex systems, all leading to requirements and subsystems suitable for development tasks by other disciplines.
    • Experience analyzing architecture and design tradeoffs utilizing recognized methodologies, and translating those activities to salient solutions for downstream engineering activity.
    • Familiarity with common tools used in System Engineering. Examples include tools for requirements management (DOORS, Reqpro), architecture (SysML, Visio), and system analysis (Matlab), among others.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across several aspects of projects is required.
    • Exposure to cross functional teams preferred.
    • Experience in working with clients and demonstrated ability to seek understanding of clients needs.
    • Exposure to one or more regulated environments (e.g. medical, aerospace, automotive) and/or standards preferred.
    • Self motivated with prompt delivery of high quality work. Able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
