    Job Description

    Altran is seeking a Principal Test Engineer.  This role is an integral part of the Test Engineering team, working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a player/coach who is able to make a strong technical contribution, and enjoys leading the efforts of others.  The primary responsibilities of the Principal Test Engineer include: developing test strategies, test planning, mentoring junior team members, feature acceptance & integration testing, automation, and system-level verification testing of complex products in regulated markets.  Testing responsibilities in this role may vary with each project, and encompass multiple technical disciplines (software, embedded software, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems testing).


    In this role you will:

    • Test estimation, planning & execution of complex systems in a regulated product environment:
      • Enterprise & Mobile application testing
      • Embedded Software and related hardware testing
    • Mentor more junior members of the team in testing and engineering best practices,
    • Perform team lead duties: oversee project success and report on quality metrics,
    • Analyze technical requirements, form testing strategies, and create detailed test cases and procedures,
    • Interface with clients and client-facing teams providing test input on proposals,
    • Lead initiatives as a member of the Test Engineering team – to improve process, investigate and qualify tools, develop test frameworks or techniques to benefit future projects,
    • Quickly ramp up with relevant domain and technology knowledge as required for each project,
    • And occasionally travel to client locations to assess testing needs with software and hardware in scope for the project.


    Your profile

    • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline,
    • 10+ years’ experience working as a Test Engineer in a multidisciplinary project team environment, testing complex systems,
    • Strong communication skills and business acumen; able to represent Test Engineering well to various audiences including client contacts, engineering team members and executive teams,
    • Demonstrated technical aptitude for Test Engineering, with advanced knowledge and/or training in software development or hardware engineering,
    • Experience in testing various complex systems including medical devices, enterprise software, mobile applications, embedded software, or system level testing of capital equipment,
    • Capable of developing verification plans and estimates,
    • Experience with requirements management and test case management tools,
    • Experience with quality systems and regulated design standards such as ISO 9000, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, DO-178, DO-254,
    • Strong communication and problem solving skills,
    • Comfortable with mentoring and training more junior team members,
    • Comfortable with direct client interfacing responsibilities, and able to travel (up to 25%),
    • Experience working effectively with distributed teams is helpful,
    • Experience in test automation supporting either embedded, desktop, web or mobile technologies is also helpful.
    • Willingness to travel up to 25%
